I Wanna Scream!!
I really NEED some sort of medication, to be able to care for my Grandmother. She's is driving me WACKO!!
She'll sleep 3 hours, then get up and insist it's the next day, which it isn't and never will be. This is an every other day occurrence, which I can no longer put up with!!
I'm now going to have a few cocktails, ..hopefully I'll forget about it.

Damned Cats
Last week when it was in the low 20's here in central Florida, I became painfully aware that the heat pump system on my house was unable to heat at degrees below 35. I had a specialist come out and look at it, and was told that the auxiliary heating system (heat strips) were 5 amp, and perhaps 10 amp strips would do a better job.
I was quoted a $300.00 installation fee, and verbally agreed to have it done.
3 days later the specialist called and said the price was actually $500.00, and I backed out ... because for that price I could buy 3 oil radiators to heat the entire house, with hundreds left over to pay the slight increase in the power bill, and money left over for whatever.
It had occurred to me that we have never had this problem before, and it has been cold down here before. So I took a closer look at the heating system, removing the skirting to gain access to the crawl space, and low and behold, the cold air return duct was disconnected from the heat pump. So during those 23 degree mornings, the auxiliary heating couldn't handle heating non-heated air continuously.
So I hooked it back up for the meantime,since it's supposed to freeze here again later this/next week. It will have to be worked on, and I suppose cheap-o me will be the one working on it.
It's those damned cats trying to get under the house through the gaps around the heat pump unit. Well, I'll electrify chicken wire if it keep my heat/air system intact.

Corn Sqeezin's
A friend of mine from North Carolina brought me a gift on her way through to West Palm Beach, her winter residence. It's a fifth of moonshine procured from a mutual friend from the Fancy Gap, Virginia area.
I used to live in Mount Airy NC, it's located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains on the Virginia/North Carolina border, so any excursion usually had you going in and out of each State. It's very hilly in the area and the roads are narrow and twisty with no shoulder. (Something that scared the shit out of me, coming from Michigan with wide shoulder roads.)
Any way, I've been hording the moonshine, mainly because I'm afraid of what it will do to my friends who like to party a little too hard. (not to mention what it will do to me ...giggles.) I was planning to take a few sips tonight, but as usual I just ate (12:44 AM est.), ...I know ... it's rather late, but I can't force myself to eat when I'm not hungry. So of course I had to help my appetite along by smoking my medication. :)
So ... I may or may not have some early tomorrow (12 AM or later). But then again, who knows.

About 1:30 pm est. I put a Boston Butt roast, in the oven to cook at 325 degrees for 3 1/2 to 4 hours.
It sure smells good....Yum!!
Hope it looks as good as the picture above.
Of course I still have to peel and pare potatoes and carrots, but that I can do later. I think I might just make some stuffing also, because I have 2 big bags of stuffing (dry bread cubes) that I bought before November, ..and of course I never cooked for Thanksgiving or Christmas, ....soooo ..lol, I must use it up.
So now that adds celery, onions,and water chestnuts to the list, yet I'm still sitting at this desk.
